ACADEMICS
The Online Training Program is designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. It's DIGITAL LEARNING, but REAL DIVING – comprehensive, first rate videos, illustrations, animations and photos to stimulate learning. You will even be able to test your knowledge with interactive review questions. Inside the digital training material, you will find useful bookmarks and a notes feature to get all of your questions answered. The program even tracks your progress every time you login. As soon as you register for our Open Water Diver Course, we will send you an email with the link to access the SSI Online Training Program through the DiveSSI App.
The DiveSSI App is an "All-In-One Dive Tool" to give you digital access to your Training Materials, Logbook and Certifications. Visit your App Store and download the DiveSSI App FREE – Available for iOS and Android!
The Open Water Diver course includes an SSI DiveLog and standard access to the SSI Online Training Program. One year Standard access to the SSI Digital DiveLog is included via the DiveSSI App.
As you complete the SSI Online Training Program, we still require you to attend all six classroom sessions. We feel strongly that students will learn better and gain more valuable knowledge and real-life lessons through in-classroom study with an instructor and peers who have a similar interest in diving!
POOL TRAINING
Here you'll learn everything from setting up your gear to how to easily get water out of your mask without surfacing. You'll also practice some emergency skills, like sharing air – just in case. Plus, you may play some games, make new friends and have a great time!
Scuba equipment is provided as part of the course fee; however, for hygienic reasons each student must have their own mask, snorkel and fins. We have various packages to choose from to fit every budget!
OPEN WATER SESSIONS
This is where you have fun putting it all together and fully experience the underwater adventure! You will complete at least 4 open water dives and have the chance to show off everything you learned in the pool. You may complete your training dives with us locally at West Hawk Lake from May – October or during one of our store-sponsored trips! More details will be discussed during your course. Your course fee includes the instruction and rental equipment for these dives. Accommodations, meals and transportation to and from West Hawk Lake are the responsibility of the diver, but we are happy to make recommendations.
After successful completion of your open water training dives you will become a Certified Diver. The SSI Open Water Diver certification is recognized worldwide so your diving experiences will be limitless!
Would you prefer to complete the open water training dives on an upcoming vacation?
If you're planning on completing your open water dives at a tropical destination, you should register for the referral version of our course. Once your academic and in-water requirements have been completed, a Universal Referral Form is provided so that you can have your instructor verify your training at your destination of choice.Completing your classroom and pool sessions with Blue Oasis Dive Centre allows you more time to practice and to become comfortable with basic dive skills. There's no pressure to cram an entire open water course into your limited vacation schedule!
You can also upgrade to the full Open Water Program during the course should you decide that you wish to complete your scuba training in Manitoba. Often people find that they are more comfortable completing the certification with us after they have started to course, so we remain flexible to give you this option as you progress.

Completing an open water certification at West Hawk Lake with Blue Oasis Dive Centre introduces you to our local dive community! Diving is a great way to network and make adventurous friends, and you will discover local dive sites that you can enjoy with a buddy after completing your certification. PLEASE NOTE: a valid Universal Referral Form is required to participate in the certification dives.
